FreeBMD Excel Spreadsheet |

I often use the website FreeBMD.org.uk for search for English (and Welsh) birth, marriage and death records. One of the features of the FreeBMD website is that it allows the results to be downloaded. The downside of this is that it downloads as a text file (.txt). This prompted me to write an Excel™ spreadsheet to hold the data in a format that can use the power of Excel to help make research a little less chaotic! You can hide (or delete) records that are not the ones you are wanting etc. Basically the spreadsheet imports the downloaded text file and makes it into a worksheet. The output looks like the following (note that I have hidden rows in order to get the sheet to fit the screen): You can name the worksheet, or you can let the spreadsheet generate the name based on Surname and date. Below is a screenshot of the $$$Info worksheet which also acts as the main dashboard. A video is available on how to use the spreadsheet on YouTube. I have also included a print facility that will enable easy selection of the worksheets to print in addition to selecting various print options. This will show you all the printers available to your computer. The workbook is available from here. If you are looking for our other free Excel workbooks, they are available from here. All of the spreadsheets are free and 100% safe Although the spreadsheets are free of charge, I would certainly welcome any donations. These help me fund any future developments and/or modifications. Please use the PayPal donate button if you wish to donate.Thank you and God bless. |
While working on my family tree I try to keep
things organised by using Excel spreadsheets to compliment my Legacy database.
