The Book of Jasher (or Jashar) is an apochrypal book mentioned twice in the Bible.

 Book

 Chapter

 Verse

Text

Joshua 10 13  “So the sun stood still,
And the moon stopped,
Till the people had revenge
Upon their enemies.”

Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. (NKJV)

and also

 Book

 Chapter

 Verse

Text

2 Samuel 1 18  and he told them to teach the children of Judah the Song of the Bow; indeed it is written in the Book of Jasher: (NKJV)

It is especially interesting as it contains some “details” that do not appear in the Bible. Some of these “details” make sense, others are a little less credible (in my opinion) but make for interesting reading. In addition to the Book of Jasher, we also recommend reading the book "Josephus" as this was written at a contemporary time as that of Jesus.

The Book of Jasher spans the same time frame as the Bible from the book of Genesis through to the book of Josuha.

The intent of this page is not to contradict the Bible nor to imply that the Book of Jashers "details" are true. The intent is to highlight the more interesting "details" written in the book.

An online version of the Book of Jasher is available here for free.

The Book of Jasher is certainly an interesting addition to any book collection and is a good companion to the Bible. These pages are not meant to a thorough breakdown of the book but rather it is a collection of what we found the most interesting.
